My brief biography

Dr. Rwashana Semwanga holds a PhD in Computer Science, a Master of Computer Science and a Bachelor of Science in Education (Maths, Chem). She is the Deputy Principal of the College of Computing and Information Sciences as well as a Associate Professor in the Department of Information Systems, Makerere University.

She has wide experience in the pedagogy service delivery and has participated in the development of information systems and health informatics curricula. Agnes has undertaken health informatics research and developed qualitative models as well as simulation tools using systemic approaches to aid healthcare decision making particularly in immunization, maternal health care and neonatal healthcare as evidenced in the publications.

She has published in international journals as well as supervised several graduate projects in the areas of health Informatics. She has undertaken research with WHO Alliance of Health Systems on the application of Systems Thinking in neonatal healthcare in Uganda. Agnes jointly with the John Hopkins University, Bloomberg School of Public Health developed an online course titled “Systems thinking case study teaching materials” that is used for training public health practitioners.
